Property Rules & Guidelines
General Property Rules
- Pets: Welcome! Please notify us in advance when booking and keep pets under control.
- Waste: Pack it in, pack it out, or use the provided garbage and recycling bins in the wood shed near the main house.
- No Littering: Help us keep the property pristine. Leave no trace.
- Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes (hiking boots/shoes) are essential due to uneven natural terrain.
- Liability Waiver: A signed waiver is required for all guests before or upon arrival (we will provide this).
- Quiet Hours: While the property offers seclusion, sound travels easily in the valley. Please be mindful of neighbouring properties and keep noise levels, including music, to a minimum after 11:00 PM.
Off-Grid Living Notes
- Weather Preparedness: Mountain weather changes rapidly. Bring layers and rain gear, regardless of the forecast.
- Tree Awareness: Be mindful of surrounding trees and potential hazards like dead branches ('widowmakers'), especially during windy conditions. Remember the adage: "Look up, live."
- Water & Bathroom: This is an off-grid property. There is no running water or plumbed bathroom. A clean, functional outhouse is provided. Stored water is available at the location and a source of fresh water is near the main house.
- Wildlife Awareness & Food Storage: You are in bear country and sharing the space with wildlife. Store food securely (inside vehicles is best) and never leave food or garbage unattended outside. Make noise when hiking. Carry bear spray and know how to use it.
Fire Safety
- Fire Bans: Strictly adhere to ALL local fire bans. A gas fire pit is available during active bans. Check current status here before arrival and during your stay. Fines for violations are severe.
- Designated Pits Only: Fires are ONLY permitted in the designated wood fire pit or the provided gas fire pit. Free firewood is available for the wood pit. Never leave any fire unattended.
- Extinguish Properly: Ensure wood fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area or going to sleep. Soak it, stir it, soak it again. Make sure the ashes are cold to the touch.
